Cognitive Therapy
It's not 'negative' life events that make you unhappy, but your beliefs and thoughts about them – that's the basis of Cognitive Therapy, also known as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
We use Cognitive Therapy techniques with clients because our practitioner Dan Roberts, having studied every major approach to psychotherapy and found much he liked in each, believes it to be the most effective psychological tool available. This is backed up by a wealth of high-quality research that shows Cognitive Therapy to be the most effective treatment for depression (especially recurrent bouts) and anxiety-related problems such as generalised anxiety disorder (GAD), obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Cognitive Therapy is also a brilliant way to tackle more common-or-garden forms of anxiety such as test anxiety, exposure anxiety (which causes fear of public speaking) and social anxiety or shyness.
It's quick, straightforward and designed so that you can use the techniques yourself. Cognitive Therapy is also uniquely suited to 'bibliotherapy', in which you use self-help books to cure your own problem.
