Massage

Massage, applied skilfully, is the most effective therapy for releasing muscle tension and restoring balance to the musculoskeletal system. Received regularly this may help in the prevention of injuries which might otherwise be caused by overuse and under use.

A constant build-up of tension in the muscles from regular activity or inactivity may lead to stresses on joints, ligaments, tendons, as well as the muscles themselves. Muscle imbalances may develop and often go undiagnosed until they are serious enough to cause you discomfort or impede function and performance.

The skilled Massage Therapist will be able to detect variations in the soft tissues and, by using the correct techniques, help you to maintain a healthier physical state with improved function. It may therefore be reasonably claimed that one of the greatest benefits of Sports Massage is in the prevention of injury. The additional mental benefits of just switching off the brain for an hour to enjoy a stress free massage cannot also be underestimated. Massage is a key component of our Program and is very often used together with Physiotherapy, Osteopathy, Corrective Exercise and Rehabilitation Exercise.
